Will Trent will be back on the case for a second season! That’s right, ABC has renewed the series, which means we get more Betty content coming our way.

The news of the series renewal came on April 18, ahead of the series returning from a short hiatus heading towards its final episodes of season 1. According to a report from Variety, Will Trent was actually the number one new drama on the network thanks to not only live viewing numbers, but also streaming/multi platform viewing.

In talking about the renewal news, Ramón Rodríguez, the star of Will Trent and a producer on the series, expressed his thanks to both ABC and Hulu fans who have made it possible for the series to be renewed. He also said,

"Liz Heldens, Dan Thomsen and the creative team have developed complex and nuanced characters that people are relating to on a human level — and it hasn’t hurt having our little star, Betty, on the call sheet. We’re so excited for the opportunity to dive deeper into these stories with season two."

Will Trent will be back for a second season of drama, cases, and Betty magic

Obviously, we are excited for more of these stories. However, we are also excited for more Betty the Chihuahua. In a lot of ways, she was a big draw for people, as her inclusion was used as part of the promotional push when the series was first announced. And they have consistently incorporated Betty moments into the show, with the dog getting at least one decent scene in every episode since the very beginning.

For us, it feels like Betty has helped give Will a family. And that’s something that we are excited to see explored further in season two. Of course, we also want to see more of Faith and Will’s partnership and even his relationship with Nico, so it will be interesting to see how that develops in season two.
