As the star of Will Trent on ABC, Ramón Rodríguez is helping to bring this fascinating character to life in a way that entertains and delights. And he is doing it with the help of an amazing cast that includes an already loved Chihuahua sidekick.

In fact, it seems like his Chihuahua sidekick is as much a part of why he is hooked on the series as we are. During an interview with People Magazine, Rodríguez revealed what it was about Will Trent that hooked him.

It turns out, Ramón Rodríguez is just like us in what inspires him. And it’s really all about the Chihuahua. Want to know what we mean, read on for more.

Ramón Rodríguez was hooked on Will Trent by that opening dog scene too

According to his interview,

"I thought [the showrunners] did a great job in the pilot starting off and meeting Will, who is a bit of a loner and a bit quirky and a bit different, but has a huge heart. And we see that because he adopted a Chihuahua in the first scene that we meet him in.When I read that scene, I was like, ‘Okay, this has got me hooked. This character has a lot of heart. I’d already known the troubled past, but when I read that scene, he got me."

Honestly, that scene is what hooked us as well. It was the moment that we knew that no matter what else was said about this character, Will Trent has a heart of gold. And it is also the reason why we are now firm fans taking on what we are calling Betty watch every week.

We always want to know what is happening with Betty and Will. How is their relationship growing? How is Will adapting to being a dog dad? Those are all the things we are watching out for when we tune in on ABC.

Ramón Rodríguez is doing a fabulous job of bringing this character to life and we love that he was hooked by the exact same scene that drew us in as well. It just confirms to us that he truly is Will Trent.
