Just this past year, the ever-so-famous ‘Boston Marathon Dog’ named Spencer lost his courageous battle with cancer. Soon to follow was his sister Penny with almost the same exact illness. Needless to say both Spencer and Penny will be greatly missed. The people of Boston are honoring Spencer’s legacy by painting him his very own portrait near the Starting Line.

Something else very special is happening at the Finish Line, which was Spencer’s most favorite place to be, so stay tuned for that later on.

The Boston Marathon is honoring Spencer with a painted portrait.

Spencer’s owners are very proud to announce the unvailing of their beloved pup’s brand new portrait that will sit at the Hopkinton Arts Center “which is just minutes from the Boston Marathon starting line”.

In case you weren’t aware of who Spency Boy was, he was the ever-so-famous pup that was smiling from ear to ear greeting all of the Boston Marathon runners near the 26.2 mile mark, his most favorite spot to be of all time.

It all started back in 2018 when Spencer braved the super cold and rainy BM day just to cheer everyone on. From that point on without even trying, he became a staple in the Boston culture.

Now, since his passing, something super special is happening just in in honor because people, literally everyone, loves him oh so much.

With the Boston Marathon just being a few weeks away here, the city and people of Boston have a plan to honor Spencer, besides just having his portrait up near the starting line. Since he loved the finish line so much, there will now be over 100 Golden Retrievers that will be “congregating” at the finish line, all through the organization of MA Golden Meetups. They plan to lead “their pack” down Boylstown Street in honor of Spencer’s life and ultimate legacy.

More. Penny, the beloved Golden Retriever from the Boston Marathon passes away a week after brother Spencer. light

That’s a wrap on The Boston Marathon and just how they plan on honoring both Spencer’s and Penny’s BM-related legacy and love for any and all. Let us know down below your favorite Spencer and Penny Memories, and of course as always…….Woof, Woof!
