Imagine you are walking in a nearby town and you come across this super cute puppy dog…or so you thought! You bring it home, and upon getting further looks at it, you realize that it’s a coyote pup! Well, that’s exactly what a Cape Cod family did within these past few days.

According to the local Boston Wildlife Officials, the coyote pup had been mistaken for a lost dog.

The reason as to why this family had mistaken the pup for a lost dog is actually kinda sad…

What would you do if you accidentally took home a coyote pup instead of a dog?!

The Cape Wildlife Center made the following post on their own local Facebook page:

"“The Eastern Coyote pup was separated from his family last week and was found wandering and distressed by the side of a busy road…He was then accidentally taken home by a local family after they mistakenly identified him as a lost puppy.”"

Of course, the family soon realized their mistake and called the CWC for some assistance. Another local Wildlife Clinic out in Rhode Island will soon introduce the pup to its foster family who can give it proper wildlife medical care and nurse the poor little guy to the health that he should be at. In fact, after being separated from his family, one of his blood siblings was actually brought to the exact same wildlife center! Reunited and I’m sure it felt so good for the both of them!

According to the CWC both pups must receive their vaccinations before they can be raised and around each other once again!

A local news station to Boston, 7NewsBoston, released this short statement and warning from the CWC themselves:

"“…they are susceptible to contracting the rabies virus, which is deadly to all mammals, including people…”"
