If there’s one thing you don’t question, it’s people and their pets. There is a special bond to be had between people and their pets whether it’s a dog, a cat, or even, a snake.

Regardless, those of us with pets have strong feelings about our animals. I mean for goodness’ sake, I have a cat sitting beside me while I’m writing this. If that doesn’t say something, I don’t know what else will.

Some people don’t share the same sentiment though as proven by a recent tweet shared by a user with an “unpopular opinion.” In the tweet, they shared that “your dog and cat do not “love” you. They are animals who are food and comfort-motivated and/or have been bred to be affectionate. They are not capable of human emotion. Nor should you expect them to be.”

Honestly, I’m a little annoyed even having to type that up but it was clear Twitter users who have pets or have had pets in the past were quick to show that user the door and let their true feelings be known.

Twitter user shares a bad take on pets and the Internet quickly responds.

Somehow upon seeing this Tweet, I knew that it was either posted to garner attention or to get people who have animals to respond. Regardless of which way it was said, a lot of Twitter users were not happy and expressed their displeasure.

While I won’t get into all of the responses, I wanted to share a few from the article: “Wasn’t this debunked in Mind of Cats tho? Like cats pretty regularly preferred sitting with their owners over strangers with treats,”  and ” I genuinely pity you for believing that. After thirty years of veterinary work, I know that my patients have emotions and souls. People like you? I have my doubts.”

As for my favorite from the article: “Your mom and dad do not “love” you. They are animals who evolved to defend their pack in order to ensure they can grow up and have mote special children and further their species, and are not capable of alien emotion. Not should you expect them to be.”

As you can see, some people were not happy and even decided to disprove her theory while others said that yes, pets might not feel human emotions but they feel them in their own way. There is a reason why dogs are known as man’s best friend. Cats, on the other hand, will reluctantly become your best friend.

Either way, it’s nice to see that my fellow pet lovers united and decided to make their stance known because I can’t imagine not feeling like my animals love me as I do them. I’d love to know what you think, though.

dark. Next. Can dogs really sniff out cancer in humans?
