While some of us understand that the pandemic is not truly over, we are definitely on the long tail end of it. And in a world that’s considered post pandemic, Rover is revealing some interesting pet parent habits that are sticking around.

If there is one thing we can say about the pandemic, it is that it did bring a lot of pets and their parents together. And we are not just talking about adoption, we are also talking about how pet parents are spending more time with their dogs in this post pandemic world. It’s the idea that time is short and the benefits that we saw during the pandemic can continue even now.

According to the study finding we received in a press email on behalf of Rover,

"Pet Parents Spending MORE Time with Dogs in a Post-Pandemic World – Interestingly enough, 49% of pet parents said they spend more time with their dog today, compared to during the pandemic. Only 14% said they spend less time today with their dog."

What did Rover discover about pet parents in a post pandemic world?

Of course, we are not actually surprised that pet parents are spending more time with their dogs. But what else did Rover discover about our habits with our dogs? Here are some post pandemic habits that pet parents say are sticking around for them.

"58% of pet parents spend extra cuddle time with their pet62% watch more tv together now38% said their dog is now allowed to sleep in bed48% said they talk to their dog more now than they used to51% said they go for more walks together now34% of pet parents said they bring their dog with them more now when they leave the house"

Now we don’t know about anybody else, but all of these things make perfect sense to us as habits that are sticking around. I know that we like spending extra time cuddling with our dog. And we definitely enjoy TV time. Of course, dogs have always been allowed in our bed. Perhaps the one habit that we didn’t have before the pandemic was multiple walks, but now that’s all changed.

We definitely agree with these findings from Rover in terms of not only habit that we like to see sticking around with pet parents, but also things that we already do. Perhaps the pandemic did have some good things that happened at least in relation to how we interact with our dogs and other pets.
