Whether you use DOGE coin or not or even know what it is, I’m sure you’ve still seen the classic meme featuring a Shiba Inu dog, at some point in your life. Well, folks, that meme was actually based on a real life dog and her name is Kabuso. Unfortunately, Kabuso’s owner has announced and officially confirmed that she has been diagnosed with cancer at just 17 years-old.

Kabuso earned herself some much deserved global fame from this classic meme!

Kabuso, the original DOGE coin dog is sick with cancer. Prayers for no pain!

Through several Instagram posts from just this past week, the owner of said famous pup, Atsuko Sato, a teacher who resides in Japan, stated that her 17 year-old baby was in very dangerous and serious conditions. You see, Kabuso was officially diagnosed with Acute Cholangiohepatitis, which is “a type of inflammation in the digestive system”; she was also, as if that wasn’t enough, diagnosed with Chronic Lymphoma Leukemia, which is a pretty common type of blood cancer.

Here’s one thing that Sato stated about her pup’s condition in just one of her Instagram posts:

"“Right now, the liver level is very bad and jaundice appears…But antibiotics will definitely improve.”"

How did all of these diagnoses come to be?

Over the Christmas holiday weekend festivities, Kabuso had stopped eating and drinking, but had seemed to be getting most if not all of her energy back.

Kabuso first became famous all the way back in 2010 when the ever so classic meme was posted to owner Sato’s initial personal blog. Her side eyes, smirking face, and crossed paws earned her the official title to many as the first (and to some the only) DOGE coin dog. Initially, doge was supposed to be a joke of a currency but has since taken off, and thank God because without it, Kabuso, while she’d still be cute, funny, and meme-worthy, wouldn’t have that super special title.

The super famous pooch and DOGE coin have such a special and legit iconic relationship that just back in 2021, the iconic image of her sold as an NFT for a record-breaking value of $4 million dollars.

Sato thanked the ‘power from all over the world’ for giving Kabuso her fame.

Many prayers and thoughts are going out to sweet Kabby and the rest of the Sato family right now! We all hope that Kabuso heals and is pain-free no matter the outcome of all of this. We love you, sweet K!
