Following the death of Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Harry and Prince William alongside their wives did a walkabout at Windsor Castle in order to view the many tributes left for the Queen, while also greeting many of the mourners lining the walkways and roads.
Although there are so many stories coming out of Britain following the Queen’s death, there are some that are truly standing out for us. And as dog lovers, many of them revolve around the Queen’s history with dogs and her Corgis, and basically anything that has to do with canine moments.
And perhaps the most iconic moment so far revolving around a dog has to do with Prince Harry. During a reunion of the former “Fab Four” (Prince William, Princess Kate, Prince Harry, and Duchess Meghan), the Queen’s grandchildren did a Windsor Castle walk that saw them viewing the many tributes paid to their late grandmother. It was also a chance to greet the crowds paying their respects.
It was during this walk that we saw a moment that has since gone viral. It was when Prince Harry bent down to take comfort from a dog that was in the crowd.
Prince Harry takes a moment to pet a dog during Windsor Castle walk
According to NDTV,
"Prince Harry seemed enthusiastic about meeting one attendee in particular – a golden Labrador named Louis. The royal was pictured crouching down, giving the well-behaved pooch some ear scratches. Louis belongs to Sarah Gracie, who also uploaded photographs of the prince and her pup on her Twitter account."
And it was not just Prince Harry who took comfort with Louis, as Duchess Meghan also took the time to offer some ear skritches to the pup.
Much like the rest of the internet, we found ourselves captivated by the images. Not only was it a beautiful moment, but it was one that reminds us that even in the saddest of moments, a dog can make all the difference.
This may have been a somber time for the Princes and their family, but with the help of Louis, it was also one that made many of us smile as we got to see Prince Harry take solace with the help of a furry friend.
As one Twitter user wrote, “I have never seen a better picture of someone who needed a dog’s love.”
