Petco updates their Vital Care Plan with new benefits and a cat plan

When it comes to taking care of our pets, Petco is truly where the pets and their parents go. And now they are giving us even more care help thanks to the enhancement of their Vital Care Plan.

For those unfamiliar with the Vital Care Plan, it is an annual membership plan that costs $19.99 per month and gives multiple discounts and coupons for services including discounts on grooming, veterinarian care, boarding (where available), nutrition needs, and more. And when it was first introduced, it was a great option for people who know they are going to be spending a lot of money on their furry children. Now it is even more impressive.

According to the press release from Petco that was released on March 8, the Vital Care Plan is getting a bit of enhancement to add even more value to pet parents, while also adding a dedicated cat plan. With the enhancement, pet parents are expected to see “annual benefits valued between $320 and $404 per year.”

So now, there is a plan tailored to cats and even more benefits to help offset the cost of pet ownership. So what all can you get for your $19.99 a month membership?

Membership benefits, which are available right now for both new and existing Vital Care Plan members, include:

"$15 Pals Rewards every month to use on any health and wellness needs they may have$20 Pals Rewards for every routine exam at the vet of your choice or unlimited routine exams at participating Petco vet locations20% off full-service grooming for dogs*20% off all litter for cats10% off all nutrition**An additional 5% off nutrition and litter when used with Repeat Delivery$20 off pet boarding, dog walking, or pet sitting services on Rover.com, coming soon"

So basically, there is a lot to love about the Petco Vital Care Plan, as it allows us all to save money on the things we are already spending money on every month. And while the company truly believes that the membership will pay for itself, we really took a look at what the plan offers to figure out if that is true.

And we have to agree that in many ways it is a great option for pet parents looking to save money in the long run. But in order to benefit from the Vital Care Plan, you actually have to use the savings and the Pals Rewards you receive.

The discount on grooming alone can pretty much get you to the $20 mark and then everything else is true savings. And of course that $15 Reward every month is another way to help us hit that value mark.

So when it comes to saving a bit of money, the Vital Care Plan really does have something to offer. Just remember, if you find yourself in Petco multiple times in a month, this could be the perfect way to take care of your pup, spoil them a bit, and save some green.
