During a trip to the Clitheroe Community Hospital on January 20, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge met an adorable therapy puppy named Alfie. And during what we are definitely calling a cuddle session between the two royals and the puppy, we learned a little bit more about their own pup, who was added to the family last year, following the death of their longtime pup, Lupo.

According to People Magazine, both the Duke and Duchess took the time to show some love to Alfie, although based on the pictures shared of the event, it is clear that the pup had a definite thing for the Duchess of Cambridge! Of course, after they each took their own turn holding and petting the therapy dog, Kate Middleton shared a previously unknown detail about their current family dog.

While laughing and joking about how their own pup will react to smelling Alfie on them, the Duchess of Cambridge said, “Our dog is going to be very upset. She’s going to be like, ‘Where have you been?'”

So what did we all learn from this comment? We learned that the pup that the royal couple added to their family is a girl! This is news we didn’t know before now, as the Cambridge’s do not often share details of their private life. And that includes details about their fur babies.

Perhaps the only other thing we knew about the four-legged member of the family was that it came to the couple courtesy of the Duchess’ brother, James Middleton, who is actually known for his dogs.

Now we know that their dog is a girl and we also know that she may just be a little jealous over Alfie getting to cuddle with her two-legged parents.

We are pretty happy to learn a little more about the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s current pup. And hopefully we get a chance to learn more (or maybe even see a picture).

Are you a fan of the royal dogs? Do you follow the Cambridge’s when it comes to their royal duties?
