Rebel Wilson and her pooches won’t be making a return to our screens, as ABC has announced that Pooch Perfect has been canceled after just one season on the network.

Based on an Australian series (which was also hosted by Wilson), Pooch Perfect saw teams of dog groomers transforming every day pups in entirely new ways. Whether it was a hair cut or utilizing hair color, every episode saw the teams taking on a new theme to transform their pup clients into something fun and unique. And yes, that even meant taking a pup and making them look like an entirely different animal.

However, we won’t be seeing anymore of this grooming magic. According to Deadline, ABC has decided not to move forward with the reality competition.

And unfortunately, it does make sense. While we certainly enjoyed the series for what it was, the problem is that it was “one of the network’s lowest rated reality series of last year and it was not mentioned when the network made a slew of unscripted renewals last year.”

We are pretty bummed to learn that the series won’t be back for another go, as it also shined a very interesting light on the world of competitive dog grooming. And it was fascinating to see the work that went into transforming all of these pups.

Of course, a dog grooming competition series is not for everyone. But perhaps we will be able to watch Pooch Perfect Season 1 a few more times and maybe even find the Australian series for some comfort binge watching.

But we want to know what you think of this news.
