There is a new puppy at the White House, but for Major Biden, this Christmas means one with family friends instead of the family.

In a statement from the First Lady’s spokesperson, Michael LaRosa, it seems that Major Biden will no longer be living at the White House. Following months of discussions with both their family and experts, the President and First Lady decided that it was in Major’s best interests to live a quieter life, away from the hustle and bustle of the presidency.

And according to the USA Today, “This is not in reaction to any new or specific incident, but rather a decision reached after several months of deliberation as a family and discussions with experts.”

Basically, the President and First Lady want what is best for their pup, even if that means him not living with them while they are at the White House. (We don’t know if this is a permanent arrangement or not at this point.)

Major Biden to stay with family friends

What does this mean for the pup’s future at the White House? Well, it looks like there isn’t one anymore.

While the Biden family just welcomed a new puppy to the White House named Commander, Major will not be there to introduce his new furry sibling to the many rooms and treats of his new home.

This news also comes on the heels of people questioning what happened with the feline that First Lady Jill Biden said would be joining the family. And it seems that the kitty addition is still happening, but with the concerns over Major Biden recently, they had to push back those plans.

Instead, it sounds like the kitty will be joining the White House in the new year, perhaps even in January.

This is definitely sad news for those of us who were fans of Major Biden as the first rescue dog in the White House, but we just want the pup to be safe and happy. And since he was not raised in such a hectic environment, with so many people, it makes sense that the White House would just not be a good fit for a pup who is all about being a protective guard dog.
