Only Murders in the Building has built a dedicated fandom in 2021 and we are here for the dog

Only Murders In The Building -- Episode 101 -- From the minds of Steve Martin, Dan Fogelman and John Hoffman comes a comedic murder-mystery series for the ages. “Only Murders In The Building” follows three strangers (Steve Martin, Martin Short and Selena Gomez) who share an obsession with true crime and suddenly find themselves wrapped up in one. When a grisly death occurs inside their exclusive Upper West Side apartment building, the trio suspects murder and employs their precise knowledge of true crime to investigate the truth. As they record a podcast of their own to document the case, the three unravel the complex secrets of the building which stretch back years. We didn’t know what to expect from Only Murders in the Building on Hulu, but what we got was a series that is building a dedicated fandom.

Considering the series is as much a satire about the world of crime podcasts as it is a dramedy of sorts, we knew it would be an interesting watch. Then we learned that the cast would include Selena Gomez, Steve Martin, and Martin Short. We knew we had to watch.

But as dog lovers and people who are here to share all things dog (and pet) related news, we stuck around for Winnie the Bulldog. And clearly, we were not alone in sticking around, as the series has the honor of being part of our FanSided roundup of the biggest Fandoms of the year.

We are in no way surprised by Only Murders in the Building being included in the list of best Fandoms in 2021. The series was fun, it was thought-provoking, and it had a dog and a cat (both of whom had integral moments to the overall storyline). And yes, we kept coming back for the Winnie storyline.

Winnie the Bulldog made Only Murders in the Building our Fandom of the Year

Considering how the first season ended, and how we don’t know what happened to Winnie in those final moments, we can’t wait for Only Murders in the Building to return for even more crime podcast drama.

For now, we are celebrating the fact that the series is getting the attention it deserves within the Fandom of the Year, and as long as we get more of Winnie on our screens (and maybe a few more dogs) then we will keep coming back again and again.

Next. Selling Sunset hosted a dog party in episode 5 of Season 4. dark
