Did you know that October 29 was National Cat Day? And in honor of this day of the feline, PETA gave us an epic Battlestar Galactica reunion.

Leading up to National Cat Day, PETA released a special pro-adoption video that reminded us all that whether we are cat people or dog people, there are plenty of animals looking for their forever homes. And in order to make that video happen, they brought together two of our favorite Battlestar Galactica actresses – Katee Sackhoff (who we also love in The Mandalorian!!) and Tricia Helfer.

In the video, Helfer admits to being a cat person, while Sackhoff is an admitted dog person, but together they want to remind us all that it doesn’t matter what kind of person you are, because what really matters is that we should be an “adoption person.” After all, adoption “saves lives” and it helps add a new member to our families.

As Sackhoff points out, “Even if you are looking for a specific breed, you can still adopt. There is a universe full of breed-specific rescues out there.”

Considering there are typically about 70 million homeless animals in the United States at any given time, it makes sense that PETA and the Battlestar Galactica stars would want to remind us of the importance of adoption. The #AdoptDontShop campaigns have been an ongoing effort to remind people of the importance of turning to rescues first and while it seems like there have been more adoptions than ever since the start of the pandemic, that doesn’t negate the fact that there are still millions of animals in need of a forever home.
