Strut Your Mutt Day 2021 coming up this weekend

Strut Your Mutt Day 2021 is coming up this weekend.

Strut Your Mutt Day is a virtual fundraiser event organized by the Best Friends Animal Society, which will take place on Saturday, October 23 this year.

Many of the Best Friends local partners are taking part with local in-person events of their own, and those can be found on the list at the link.

Founded in the early 1980s in the Utah border town of Kanab, Best Friends is now a nationwide organization with satellite offices in Salt Lake City, Los Angeles, and elsewhere, appearing on NASCAR driver Alex Bowman and organizing concerts.

The Best Friends Strut Your Mutt Day 2021 fundraising event will be Saturday, October 23.

Ideally, Best Friends will help see animal shelters nationwide become no-kill by 2025, which is trending in a good direction.

The Strut Your Mutt Day spokesperson for 2021 is Joe Gatto from the TruTV sketch comedy series Impractical Jokers, who has nine rescue dogs that feature heavily in his memoir The Dogfather.

“I can’t imagine my life without rescue dogs and recognize how many animals there are out there who still need our help,” Gatto said in a press release. “I couldn’t be more excited to support the good people at Best Friends Animal Society and have some fun at this incredible event.”

Other animal rescue organizations that may not focus on dogs specifically are also welcome to take part in Strut Your Mutt fundraising, since cats, horses and other companion animals are also terrific in their own ways.

Participants can sign up on the Strut Your Mutt website, and more of the fun can be found on the Strut Your Mutt Facebook page, where the fun will kick off with a video message from Gatto at 9 a.m. ET.

“Best Friends is so grateful to Joe for helping raise awareness and funds for Strut Your Mutt. The last year has been incredibly difficult for shelters and animal welfare organizations, so funds are needed now more than ever to empower this important, lifesaving work,” Holly Sizemore, Best Friends chief mission officer, said in a press release.
