What Arkansas high school canine mascots are out there?

Well, to begin with, there aren’t many, but there are a decent amount of variety, which is nice.

As with the vast majority of our animal mascot research, Mascot DB was the main resource, and we apawlogize if we misspelled your school or left it out.

Arkansas high school sports are governed by the Arkansas Activities Association, which sanctions championships in baseball, basketball (boys and girls), bowling (boys and girls), cheer, cross country (boys and girls), football, golf (boys and girls), soccer (boys and girls), softball, swimming and diving (boys and girls), tennis (boys and girls), track and field (boys and girls), volleyball and wrestling.

The largest schools are in Class 7A, the smallest in 1A, and rather unusually, district placement is listed in front of class designation.

What Arkansas high school canine mascots are there?

There are 14 groups of Bulldogs, including the variant of the Fayetteville Purple Bulldogs:  Bald Knob, Decatur, Earle, Greenwood, Hampton, Springdale, Star City, St Joseph, Strong, Tuckerman, Quitman, Waldron, and White Hall.

Possibly inspired by the Red Wolves of Arkansas State University, Wolves and variants include Lincoln, the Prescott Curley Wolves (why is a wolf’s fur curling, especially with that extra E?), and the Timberwolves of Cedar Ridge and Oden.

Three groups of Greyhounds run at Newport, Salem and Sloan-Hendrix.

In the realm of “creativity with canine mascots that more schools really ought to employ,” there are also the Alma Airedales, Fayetteville Haas Hall Mastiffs, Morrilton Devil Dogs and Van Buren Pointers

No longer in existence are Cotton Plant, who was known as the Bulldogs, or Gillett, which was home to the Wolves.
