The upcoming Clifford movie will release Friday, September 17, and it just dropped its first trailer online on Tuesday morning, June 29.

The Clifford movie, fully titled Clifford the Big Red Dog, is from Paramount Pictures and based on the children’s picture book series by author/illustrator Norman Bridwell (pronounced “Bird well”).

It is not related to either the 2000-2003 PBS series of the same name set on fictional Bridwell Island (roughly Martha’s Vineyard, Maryland), its 2003-2006 New York City-set prequel Clifford’s Puppy Days, or the 2019 remake on Amazon Prime Video.

Starring as New York City resident Emily Elizabeth Howard will be Darby Camp (The Christmas Chronicles, Big Little Lies)who also had a role in the 2018 remake of Benji.

The Clifford movie trailer releases online.

Based on this Clifford movie trailer, Clifford will spend most of the movie as a puppy….that just happens to be 15 feet tall. This, as you would expect, will lead to LOTS of destruction, and the accidental almost-swallowing of a French Bulldog pal when playtime got too close to dinnertime.

Also, for every like of the trailer, a $1 donation will be made to Best Friends Animal Society, helping make their dream of a no-kill shelter system in America a reality by 2025 come that much closer to reality.

Other cast members include English actor Jack Whitehall (Good Omens)as Emily Elizabeth’s uncle, Sienna Guillory (Eragon, Inkheart, Resident Evil) as her mother, in addition to Kenan Thompson (Mighty Ducks, Saturday Night Live), David Alan Grier (In Living Color)  and Tony Hale (Toy Story 4)

It will be directed by Walt Becker, whose credits include the Tim Allen movie Wild Hogs and Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Road Chip.

One of the producers is Jordan Kerner, whose credits include the Mighty Ducks trilogy, the Inspector Gadget movies, and film adaptations of the novels Charlotte’s Web and Fried Green Tomatoes. This could be a good sign, though of course it’s rather hard to tell based on just one trailer.
