Psychic Corgi offers 2021 Stanley Cup Final predictions
We love our sports here at Dog O’Day, especially hockey. And so of course we’re eagerly tuning in to the 2021 Stanley Cup Final predictions from a Dogstagram account jokingly called “Psychic Corgi.”
Technically, the account is called @AirCorg, and he came to prominence during the 2021 Stanley Cup Semifinals, where a thoroughly odd-because-pandemic season led to an equally-strange playoff system.
Air Corg is actually Lilo zee Trickshot Corgi, with nearly 29,000 followers on his account.
While he picked Bark-Andre Furry’s Vegas Golden Knights and Tori’s New York Islanders in the semifinals, neither of those teams actually advanced to the Final.
2021 Stanley Cup Final predictions are in….who will triumph?
Lilo smacks a light rubber ball (or possibly a balloon) with his snoot, down the stairs and into one of two trash cans fixed up like basketball hoops.
Lilo isn’t limited to just hockey, either – he also predicts soccer and basketball as well, and plays tennis.
After a thorough summary of the stats and storylines between the Montreal Canadiens (favorite team of our Dog Twitter friend Canadian Penny) and the Tampa Bay Lightning (favorite team of our columnist Holland the Pup), it was time for the predictions….
Among the storylines, Montreal is arguably the National Hockey League’s most successful franchise, though haven’t won the Cup since 1993 (they were also the last Canadian team to do so). Tampa Bay was in its inaugural season that year, and they are the defending champions, though the 2019-20 NHL season was heavily disrupted by the pandemic.
In normal times, Tampa Bay and Montreal both compete in the Eastern Conference’s Atlantic Division, making this an especially interesting matchup. The Canadiens are regarded as the underdogs, providing another reason to hope they pull out the victory.
(drumroll of tail thwapping into something commences here)
And there you have it – based on Lilo the Trickshot Corgi’s 2021 Stanley Cup Final predictions, the 2021 Stanley Cup Champions, by this reckoning, will be the Montreal Canadiens in six games.
