Looking for a fun animated movie this summer that will entertain the kids and even get the adults laughing? Look no further than Dog Gone Trouble.
While this movie is originally from 2019, it actually didn’t hit Netflix until May 2021, so if you have never heard of this animated movie, you’re probably not alone. (This was our first time hearing about it too.)
After watching this movie, I will admit that it was a lot more fun than I expected. The premise of the movie is that a pampered pooch finds themselves lost in the city after the death of their owner. However, the members of his owner’s family are looking for him because they need him in order to inherit all the wealth.
Dog Gone Trouble delivers the humor with the help of a talented cast of characters
Trouble, our pampered pooch, is voiced by Big Sean. While other voice talents in the film include Lucy Hale, Betty White, Snoop Dogg, Marissa Winokur, Joel McHale, and Wilmer Valderrama, among others. And while the voices might pop at first, it doesn’t take long for the visions of these actors to fade into the background as you get into the story.
From a gang of dancing squirrels with a nuts problem to a street dog with a tragic backstory of her own, there are plenty of unique personalities among the people and animals in the movie. Dog Gone Trouble also plays into the idea that adults are going to be tuning in to watch with their children. And that means that there are plenty of jokes and off-hand comments that feel like they are better served in a more adult film, but actually aren’t terrible in a kids movie.
For the kids there are cute animated animals, particularly the dogs. And for the adults, there is humor and even a storyline that you want to pay attention to. It’s honestly a win-win, and one we have no problem streaming on a warm summer day.
