Following the news that Champ Biden had passed away on June 19, The Oval Pawffice shared a touching tribute to the beloved First Dog. The post, which seems to have come from Major Biden, features a beautiful picture of Champ and President Biden together, with the words “Bestest Boy” on the image.

Of course, it is the caption of the post itself that really touches the heart and brings tears to the eyes. In the caption for the Instagram tribute, we get to hear from Major himself,

"There are no woofs to express the pain in my heart. Champ was my brother, best friend and mentor. He taught me everything I know. I take solace in the fact that he was so, so loved and he had a happy, long, meaningful life. Fly free, furry angel!"

While it is not surprising, it is touching to read the tribute that The Oval Pawffice social media accounts are sharing. Considering both Champ and Major have been a big part of this social media push to raise funds for animals, there was never any doubt that they would honor the beloved pup upon his death.

The Oval Pawffice pays tribute to Champ, with words from Major Biden

Not only did we get the statement shared by President Biden’s Twitter account, but the same statement was shared on the FLOTUS social media accounts as well (at the very least we saw it posted to the First Lady‘s Instagram account). And it makes sense that the First Dogs’ social media account would have their own statement.

Although we were deeply moved by the statement from the President and First Lady (there were tears), it is certainly these simple words from Major that are the ones that stick with us.

Hopefully Major is able to grieve his brother without any drama coming his way, and perhaps he can take comfort in his future feline sibling as well.
