On social media, the First Dogs paid tribute to Bo Obama, the former First Dog who sadly passed away on May 8. And it was a reminder that these pups were friends.

In a post from Michelle Obama about the passing of Bo, we learned a little bit more about how the pup became a part of the family. It was a chance to remember that at one point Bo was a First Dog, just like Champ and Major Biden are now. But not only that, but Bo was in the White House at the same time that Champ was (of course at the time, Champ was Second Dog).

So it just makes sense that the First Dogs would take the time to pay tribute to Bo Obama following his passing from cancer. Obviously these pups were friends, and when our friends die, we want to honor their memory.

First Dogs, Champ and Major Biden, pay tribute to their friend Bo Obama

In their post on The Oval Pawffice Instagram account, the First Dogs shared,

"We are heartbroken. Our furry good friend, Bo Obama, passed away after a long battle with cancer. Woof hate cancer so much! We take solace in the fact that Bo had a happy, long life and was very loved by his pawsome hooman family and his canine sister, Sunny. Fly free, Bo!"

While we are saddened by the news of Bo Obama’s passing, we appreciate the love that his humans and his fellow furry friends shared with the world. We also really love the fact that Champ and Major took the time to pay tribute to the former First Dog once they learned the news of their friends death.
