What are the most popular dog breeds on Instagram? (surprising results)

Do you follow any dogs on Instagram? We all do and we all have our favorites! But do you know what the most popular dog breeds are? The results from a new report may surprise you!

Comparison site GoCompare, recently released a report that reveals the most popular dog breeds on the social media platform, Instagram. Can you guess which breeds are in the top 10?

Forgive me for being biased, but I was very disappointed to not find the beautiful and cuddly Goldendoodle anywhere on the top 50 list. The results were tallied up by hashtags, so it appears I need to hashtag my pups pictures more often!

Maybe Goldendoodles will make the cut next time! In the meantime, another result I found surprising is the fact that Chihuahuas are No. 1 on the list with approximately 42,892,924 hashtags.

Sorry, I love all four-legged pals, but Chihuahuas are overrated. Close behind Chihuahuas are Pugs with 40,801,203 tags. Pugs are pretty darn cute! (And there are some famous Pugs we can think of who likely helped make this happen.)

To be fair, while Goldendoodles didn’t make the list, Golden Retrievers did. They come in proudly at No. 5 with 35,868,256 tags.

  4. Bulldog
  5. Golden Retriever

These are only the top 10 results, but GoCompare has plenty of more facts on their site! Some of the other fun facts include the top cats on Instagram (which are nowhere near as cute as our canine pals, but you know).

The site also shows which dog breeds are the most popular in different parts of the world, it’s really neat!
