In a sit down interview with George Stephanopoulos for ABC News on March 16, much of the talk with President Biden was on politics, COVID 19, and the state of the world. However, at the end of the interview, the final question from Stephanopoulos was all about our favorite First Dog, Major Biden.

After being asked, “Is Major out of the doghouse?,” the President was quick to answer a resounding yes, while also explaining what happened in his own words. While we all know that Major is rescue pup, sometimes it seems like people forget what that means. It means that these pups often times come from stressful situations, and there are times when they will react in a way that we may not expect.

According to President Biden, “Major did not bite someone and penetrate the skin.” Instead, it seems that he and the President were walking down the hall and, “you turn a corner and there’s — there’s two people I don’t know at all. And, you know, and they move — and he moves to protect.”

So, in the President’s own words, Major was doing exactly what we expect of any good boy – he was protecting his person. And while President Biden may not have needed that protection, how was Major supposed to know this at the time?

President Biden confirms that Major Biden is a beloved member of the White House

On top of explaining what happened with Major, the President also verified once again that the plan all along was for Major and Champ to head to Delaware while both he and the First Lady were away from the White House. He also shared the news that Major is going through further training to hopefully prevent something like this from happening again.

And in news that probably surprises no one, it seems that Major has a very high approval rating as well. President Biden shared that, “85 percent of the people there love him.” For us, we are more surprised by the number being under 90 percent, but maybe the other 15 percent are more cat people than dog lovers.

No matter what, it is nice to have confirmation once and for all that Major Biden is not in the dog house and is still a much loved member of the First Family and the White House.
