Super Bowl LV is over and a winner has been crowned. And that also means that all of the commercials have aired, giving us a look at everything from Cheetos and DoorDash to Tide and Jeep. But the one thing that really seemed to be lacking was a real doggy presence.

Sure, some of the Super Bowl commercials featured a pup here and there, but none of the pups were the focus of the commercials they were a part of. And even for the ones they were in, it was almost a blink and you miss it experience.

While we knew that the commercials this year were not going to be the same as years past, it was still a bit disappointing to not see more dogs popping up. Even if they had brought out older commercials featuring pups it would have been better than what we ended up with.

Dogs have long been a great aspect of the Super Bowl commercial watching experience. Who else fell in love with the Harrison Ford and Alexa commercial that really focused on the dog and the idea of a failed Alexa collar? Even the Budweiser commercials which typically give the focus to the Clydesdales have often featured a pup who helps steal the show.

Super Bowl LV commercials miss the doggy mark

No matter what you thought of the Big Game itself, the commercials are usually a bright spot of the night. And this year, the lack of dogs was rather prominent.

Even in the very few commercials we saw dogs show up, such as the Tide commercial with Jason Alexander or the Doritos 3D Flat Matthew commercial, they simply weren’t given the love we would have wanted. That being said, Doritos was definitely at the top of our list when it comes to dog-friendly Super Bowl commercials in 2021.

Now it is all about waiting to see what happens in 2022 and if the dogs can make a come back in the world of the Super Bowl commercials. But what did you think?
