Animal Crossing: New Horizons was the third-highest selling video game of 202 according to some estimates, and as big fans of the game here at Dog O’Day, that’s not that surprising.

What is a little surprising, though fun, was a minor bit in the game’s latest update, version 1.7.0, included some items for the upcoming Super Bowl 55 between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Titled “Big Game Celebration” items, likely for legal reasons, the items are available in the Nook Shopping app in the limited-time-only category, which will be available until Monday, February 15. There you can purchase a football rug (complete with a league logo design that looks very similar to the NFL shield) for 1,500 bells, or a cheer megaphone for 2,000 bells.

There are actually four variations on the cheer megaphone that switch in and out by the day, none of which match the football uniform pieces available. These variations are the Fiery Cheer Megaphone (black with orange/red flames), the Glittery Cheer Megaphone (shiny royal blue all over), Football Cheer Megaphone (self-explanatory, but uses Canadian football stripes) and Starry Cheer Megaphone (yellow background with teal and pink stars).

They all look more suited to a competitive cheer setting (like the Navarro Bulldogs in the Netflix documentary series Cheer) than the sidelines of a football stadium, but still, it’s a fun item, especially since your character can hold them.

Animal Crossing New Horizons is ready for some football.

There are eight football jerseys (called “football shirt” in game), some of which look vaguely like actually college and pro teams. These are the green/orange (Miami Hurricanes or Dolphins), white/black/red (mid-1990s San Francisco 49ers), yellow/black/green (Arizona Hotshots from the Alliance of American Football), maroon/yellow (Washington Football Team), light blue/black (Carolina Panthers), turquoise/black, orangeish/reddish/black (Cincinnati Bengals or Georgia Bulldogs) and black/orange (Chicago Bears). They can be purchased in the Able Sisters clothing store for 1,120 bells.

There are also eight helmets to go along with them, though the white helmets don’t match, as it’s kind of a cream color for the base of the shell. There is also the football that you can purchase at Nook’s Cranny.

Football pants and cleats also complete the uniform, though the exact number of variant colors of each aren’t quite known. There are also letter jackets in four colors: green, red, blue and yellow/gold if your animals are jock types, and if the female animals feel like cheering, there are eight cheer uniforms in red/white, purple/white, royal blue/white, maroon/black,  green/black, pink/black, teal/black and yellow/black options.

While these items are designed around the Super Bowl, when paired with the Christmas puppy plushies you could set up an Animal Crossing Puppy Bowl on your island (which Wesley now plans to do).
