Who won the 2020 Royal Canin National Puppy and Junior Stakes?
The event was held at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida, on December 11 as a lead-in event for the 2020 AKC National Championship presented by Royal Canin.
The Royal Canin National Puppy and Junior Stakes is the conformation championship for young canines, puppies (6-12 months) and juniors (12-18 months) who haven’t quite graduated to big shows just yet. Like the other companion events from the weekend, it is available on AKC.tv.

Herding Group
The Herding Group was judged by Douglas Johnson, was it was won by a female Smooth Collie called Dixie (registered as Wild Wind’s Barramist Dixieland Delight) from Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Other puppies placing were, in order, a Bearded Collie, a Rough Collie and a Pumi.
Hound Group
The Hound Group was judged by James Donahue, with the winner being a Whippet called Eagle (official name Longlesson Fly Me to the Moon II) from Mechanicsville, Maryland.
Also earning ribbons were a Grand Basset Griffon Verdeen (red), a Wire-Haired Dachshund (white) and an American Foxhound (yellow).
Non-Sporting Group
In the Non-Sporting Group, Gus Sinibaldi was the judge, and the blue ribbon went to Biscuit the French Bulldog (registered as Shady Oak’s High Tea at Highwood) from Santa Monica, California.
A Standard Poodle was second, followed by a Bichon Friese and a Lhasa Apso.
Sporting Group
The Sporting Group was judged by Desmond Murphy, and it was captured by a Labrador Retriever called Glass (officially Loretta Breaking the Glass Slipper) from Huntington, New York.
Also placing were a Parti-Colored Cocker Spaniel in second, an English Cocker Spaniel in third and a Lagotto Romagnolo in fourth.
Terrier Group
The Terrier Group was judged by Celeste Gonzalez, and claimed by Nas the Miniature Bull Terrier, who is from Santa Barbara, California, and registered as Lotus If I Ruled the World.
Taking home the other ribbons in the group were with a Welsh Terrier the red, a Wire Fox Terrier the white and a West Highland White Terrier the yellow.
Toy Group
The Toy Group was judged by Tammy Jackson, and won by a Havanese called Boodles (full official name CH Nauti Leighway Send More Boodles) from Portsmouth, Rhode Island.
Second place went to a Pomeranian, third to a Shih Tzu and fourth to a Papillon.
Working Group
Grace Fritz was the judge of the Working Group, with the blue ribbons awarded to a Rottweiler called Jimmy (official name Medieval’s Speak of the Devil V), from Bethlehem, Colorado.
Other ribbons went to a Siberian Husky, an Akita and a St Bernard, respectively.
Best in Stakes
Best in Stakes at the 2020 Royal Canin National Puppy and Junior Stakes was judged by James Moses, Daniel Smith and Thomas Powers, and in the end it went to Boodles the Havanese.
