2020 Central Florida Kennel Club results: Who won at the Orlando Cluster?
Just a few days ago, the 2020 Central Florida Kennel Club commenced! Let’s find out which dogs came out on top!
This past Thursday, December 10, the 2020 Central Florida Kennel Club dog show was held (see the full list in the previous link) at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida as a lead-in for the 2020 AKC National Championship presented by Royal Canin, which was held December 12-13, and will be broadcast on ABC at 2 p.m. ET on Sunday, January 17, 2021.
With 3,690 entries in the event, there were a ton of people involved in making it safe for all of the owners and dogs alike!
Here are some of the people that were involved in such a big contest:
- Best in Show Judge: Mr. Jon Cole
- Various photographers
- Various judges for the different dog breed categories
- We can’t forget about the dogs themselves too!
Now, for the 2020 Central Florida Kennel Club dog show, let’s see some of the winners in each category and who their rightful owners were!
Here are the judges per dog breed category:
- Sporting = Mrs. Paula Nykiel
- Hound = Neil McDevitt
- Working = Mr. William DeVilleneuve
- Terrier = Mr. Ken Murray
- Toy = Mrs. Anne Savory Bolus
- Non-Sporting = Dr. Valeria Rickard
- Herding = James Mitchell
- Misc = Mr. Raymond Filburn Jr.
- Jr = Mr. Daniel Dahlberg

1. Sporting Group
Total Entries: 608
Taking the number one top spot in the Sporting Group was a Gordon Setter with its official name being GCHG Hollyhunt Not By Chance.
An English Springer Spaniel was second, an ASCOB Cocker Spaniel was third and a German Shorthaired Pointer fourth.
2. Hound Group
Total Entries: 499
Taking the number one spot was Bourbon the Whippet (whose official name is GCHP Pinnacle Kentucky Bourbon).
Also earning ribbons were a Saluki (red), 2020 NDS champ Claire the Scottish Deerhound (officially CH Foxcliffe Claire Randall Frasier, white) and an English Foxhound (yellow).
3. Working Group
Total Entries: 494
Taking the number one spot in the Working Group was a familiar name in Wilma the Boxer, whose registered name is GCHP2 Cinnibons Bedrock Bombshell.
Also placing here were a Bullmastiff in second, McConaughey the Newfoundland in third and a Great Dane in fourth.
4. Terrier Group
Total Entries: 489
The winner in the Terrier Group was a the Miniature Schnauzer (GCHG Carmel Sky High Wish Upon A Star.)
Coming in second was Vinnie the Wire Fox Terrier (GCHB Irvonhill Voignier), a Welsh Terrier in third and a very rare Dandie Dinmont Terrier in fourth.
5. Toy Group
Total Entries: 600
To the surprise of no one, reigning national champion Wasabi the Pekignese (officially GCH Pequest Wasabi) claimed victory in the Toy Group.
Also placing were a Japanese Chin, an Italian Greyhound and an Affenpinscher, in that order.
6. Non-Sporting Group
Total Entries: 352
Winning the blue ribbon in the Non-Sporting Group was Sushi the Schipperke (registered as GCHB Delamer Suzi Sells Sushi On The Boardwalk).
A Tibetan Terrier brought home the red ribbon, 2019 NDS champ Thor the Bulldog (GCHG Diamond Gold Majesu Pisko Bulls) the white ribbon and a Standard Poodle the yellow ribbon.
7. Herding Group
Total Entries: 588
Taking the number one spot in the Herding Group was a German Shepherd dog called River, known officially as CH Gem-N-I River Of Urloved CGC.
Also placing were Conrad the Shetland Sheepdog (GCHP Syringa-Akadia The Corsair), an Old English Sheepdog and a Puli.
8. Misc. Group
Taking the number one spot was a Dutch Shepherd dog with its official name being Trakas Top Shelf Blue Agave LH; his call name is unknown. The Misc Group is an optional part of dog shows for breeds that haven’t quite reached a population large enough to earn AKC registration yet.
Best in Show
When it came to Best in Show at the 2020 Central Florida Kennel Club, there weren’t really any surprises, as Wasabi the Peke was Best in Show, while Wilma the Boxer was named as Reserve Best in Show.
