College football saw an odd 2020 Week 13.

2020 Week 13 was odd. Granted, this has been an unusual college football season since the beginning, but even so, the weekend’s events were strange.

As always, the football dogs of Instagram were out in full force celebrating their favorite teams, wearing the appropriate attire as necessary. This weekend, however, they were also celebrating Thanksgiving snacks and enjoying the National Dog Show.

2020 Week 13 was one to remember for the canine schools, though.

For our purposes, 2020 Week 13 began on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 26, in the Mountain West, as the New Mexico Lobos were clobbered by the Utah State Aggies 41-27, as the Lobos remain winless at 0-5.

On Saturday, November 28, in the SEC, Bully’s Mississippi State Bulldogs were unable to repeat the bizarre Egg Bowl win of last year, falling 31-24 to the Ole Miss Rebels. Mississippi State drops to 2-6 on the season.

Reveille the Collie’s No. 5 Texas A&M Aggies easily held off the LSU Tigers 20-7, improving to 8-1.

Uga’s No. 9 Georgia Bulldogs defeated the South Carolina Gamecocks 45-16, improving to 8-2.

In the Sun Belt, the Arkansas State Red Wolves were unable to defeat the South Alabama Jaguars, losing 38-31. Arkansas State drops to 3-7 overall, 1-6 in conference.

In the ACC, the North Carolina State Wolfpack won the Syracuse Orange 36-29, improving to 7-3 overall, 6-3 ACC.

Also, the Duke Blue Devils (who count as a canine school due to the Canine Cognition Center) were defeated by the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets 56-33, dropping to 2-7 overall, 1-7 in conference.

In the MAC, Mission’s Northern Illinois Huskies nearly got their first win of 2020, though the Western Michigan Broncos triumphed 30-27. Northern Illinois falls to 0-4.

In the Pac-12, Dubs’ Washington Huskies were scheduled to face the Washington State Cougars in the Apple Cup, but that was canceled due to the pandemic, as was the Utah Utes’ contest against the Arizona State Sun Devils. So Washington and Utah played each other instead in the night game on Fox, with Washington celebrating the 100th anniversary of Husky Stadium with the 24-21 win, improving to 3-0.

And finally in the Mountain West, the Nevada Wolf Pack played an extremely late game at the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors. Hawaii handed Nevada their first loss of the season, 24-21, as they drop to 5-1.

Among the vet schools of college football, things went pretty well.

On Black Friday, November 27 in the Big 12, the No. 13 Iowa State Cyclones topped the No. 17 Texas Longhorns 23-20 on Fox, sealing a place in the conference championship game for the first time in program history. Iowa State is now 7-2 overall, 7-1 in conference.

On Saturday in the Big Ten, the Rutgers Scarlet Knights topped the Purdue Boilermakers 37-30, and so Purdue falls to 2-3.

The Michigan State Spartans shook up a muddled playoff race after upsetting the No. 8 Northwestern Wildcats 29-20, as Michigan State improves to 2-3.

Going back to the Big 12, the No. 23 Oklahoma State Cowboys held on to defeat the Texas Tech Red Raiders 50-44 in the afternoon Fox game, improving to 6-2 overall and 5-2 in conference.

The Kansas State Wildcats narrowly lost to the Baylor Bears 32-31, falling to 4-5 overall, 4-4 in conference.

In the SEC, the Missouri Tigers destroyed the winless Vanderbilt Commodores 41-0 to improve to 4-3 overall, but Vanderbilt made history as kicker Sarah Fuller, a goalie for the Vandy women’s soccer team that won the conference championship last week, made her debut for the football team.

Holland the Pup‘s Florida Gators hammered the Kentucky Wildcats 34-10, as they’ve sealed up the SEC East Division with a 7-1 record.

The No. 22 Auburn Tigers were beaten in the Iron Bowl on CBS by the No. 1 Alabama Crimson Tide 42-13, as Auburn drops to 5-3.

While some 2020 Week 13 games were postponed due to the pandemic, the games between the Colorado State Rams-Air Force Falcons, San Diego State Aztecs-Fresno State Bulldogs, San Jose State Spartans-Boise State Broncos, Louisiana Tech Bulldogs-Florida International Panthers, Minnesota Golden Gophers-No. 16 Wisconsin Badgers, and the No. 4 Ohio State Buckeyes-Illinois Fighting Illini were all canceled outright.
