The Animal Crossing Thanksgiving event is happening now.

The Animal Crossing Thanksgiving event, known in the franchise’s universe as Turkey Day, is happening now from 9 a.m. until midnight across all time zones on Animal Crossing New Horizons.

A celebrity chef in Franklin the turkey will drop by your island and set up station in the plaza, while you the player can gather requested ingredients to assemble a special holiday meal. Your villagers will be cooking up their own additions as well in their houses, and they can offer advice for special ingredients to make things even tastier.

Most ingredients are fairly easy to gather, picking up mushrooms or fishing in rivers or oceans. There are a few sea creatures you’ll need to go diving for, but it shouldn’t take more than a half hour to assemble all four recipes, even with the secret ingredients added.

For a complete list of what items are available and how to unlock the exclusive Thanksgiving furniture, see the guide on Animal Crossing World. It’s a fun way to expand the world of this super-popular and relaxing game, which is getting great reviews.

That could be just the thing if the football games later this afternoon are too unbearable to watch, or if the people you’ve been spending the holiday with just get on your nerves a little too much. Of course, you shouldn’t be playing while the National Dog Show is airing – you’ll miss the cuteness, and that wouldn’t be good.

On my island, named Wishbone after the amazing 1990s PBS series, unfortunately there are no canines living here at the moment, though the tanuki Tom Nook and his assistant Isabelle the Shih Tzu of course work at the office. On the other paw, however, Bud the lion and Bianca the leopard are current residents, so feline representation also works.
