The action began for 2020 Week 9 in the Mountain West on Thursday, October 29, as the Fresno State Bulldogs hosted the Colorado State Rams. Fresno State won 38-17, improving to 1-1, while CSU lost their season opener.
On Halloween Saturday, October 31 in the SEC, Bully’s Mississippi State Bulldogs faced the West-leading No. 2 Alabama Crimson Tide, and Bama cruised to a 41-0 victory. MSU is now 1-4 in 2020.
Uga’s No. 5 Georgia Bulldogs topped the Kentucky Wildcats 14-3 on the road, moving to 4-1 and hanging onto control of the SEC East.
Back in the SEC West, Reveille the Collie’s No. 8 Texas A&M Aggies outdueled the visiting Arkansas Razorbacks 42-31, and the Aggies are now 4-1 in conference and overall.
In the Sun Belt, the Arkansas State Red Wolves were dropped by the Troy Trojans 38-10; Arkansas State is now 3-4 overall and 1-3 in conference play.
In Conference USA, the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs took three overtimes to defeat the Alabama-Birmingham Blazers 37-34, Louisiana Tech is now 4-3 overall and 3-2 n C-USA play.
Returning to the Mountain West, the New Mexico Lobos were pounded by the San Jose Spartans 38-21 in their season opener.
The Nevada Wolf Pack rule the Silver State after their 37-19 triumph over the UNLV Rebels, now playing in shiny new Allegiant Stadium, home of the Las Vegas Raiders. Nevada is now 2-0.

Their 2020 Week 9 began on Friday, October 30, as the Minnesota Golden Gophers traveled to Maryland, being edged by the Terrapins 45-44. Minnesota is now 0-2.
In the Saturday Night Football game on ABC, the No. 3 Ohio State Buckeyes survived the No. 10 Penn State Nittany Lions 38-25, moving to 2-0.
Purdue’s Boilermakers are now 2-0 after they defeated fellow vet school Illinois this weekend; the final score was Boilermakers 31, Fighting Illini 24, while Purdue is now 2-0 and Illinois is 0-2.
The Spartans of Michigan State upset No. 13 Michigan, defeating the Wolverines 27-24 at the Big House, improving to 1-1.
In the Big 12, the No. 6 Oklahoma State Cowboys were overcome by turnovers and the Texas Longhorns, falling 41-34 in overtime, dropping to 4-1, 3-1.
Meanwhile, the No. 16 Kansas State Wildcats were thumped by the West Virginia Mountaineers 38-10, dropping to 4-2, 4-1 this season.
