Open Farm Pet Food is here to help our pups enjoy Pumpkin season
Even our dogs want the chance to enjoy Pumpkin Spice season, and it seems that Open Farm Pet Food wants to help make that happen this year. And whether that means creating a dog friendly version of the Pumpkin Spice Latte with the help of the brand’s Kefir or maybe enjoying one of their dry dog foods packed with some of our favorite Fall produce, such as apples, pumpkin, and cranberry, this is a chance for our dogs to get into the spirit of the season alongside of us.
And while we have offered up a recipe for Pupkin Spice Lattes before, I’ll admit that this one from Open Farm has me curious. In fact, now I think I will have to give this one a try so that our staff pup can give us an honest opinion! (Maybe even a side by side comparison.)
Celebrate Fall with Open Farm products
So how do we create their version of a Pumpkin Spice Latte for pups? According to the recipe provided by the brand and Instagram’s @hungrynike we need:
- 1 cup of pumpkin puree
- 1 cup of the Open Farm Kefir, which is an organic cow milk
- A dash of ground cinnamon
- Optional: A small amount of fresh whipped cream
In a blender, combine the Kefir and pumpkin puree. You can add more of either ingredient if you want to change the thickness. Add a dash of the cinnamon on top of the mix and if you are adding whipped cream (make sure there is no Xylitol if using a store bought as that is dangerous for dogs), you can add the cinnamon over the cream. If you want to get fancy, you can add a dog treat as a garnish!
If you decide to give this recipe a try, share the end results on social media and make sure to tag the brand and @hungrynike. Of course, we would love to see your Pupkin Spice Lattes too!
And if you don’t feel like creating a latte for your pup, you can still choose one of the Open Farm dog food items that features more Fall ingredients. It will still let your pup get into the spirit of the season without going too crazy in the kitchen.
