Karamo Brown partners with Febreze to Say Up to Your Pup

Queer Eye‘s Karamo Brown has partnered with Febreze as part of “Say Up to Your Pup” movement in honor of National Adopt-a-Dog Month. And that means not only are we getting a chance to bring our pups up onto the furniture in our homes, but there is a chance to help raise money for a great cause.

But that’s not all, as we even had the chance to ask Karamo all about his partnership with Febreze and why he wanted to take part in Say Up to Your Pup! And while the focus of this movement is on making sure that our pups are as much a part of our home as the people, I admit that the partnership itself also helped kick up our excitement.

Adopt-a-Dog Month is an important way for many shelters and rescues to raise awareness for animals in need of a home. And with the help of Febreze, it makes it easier than ever to bring home a pup without worrying about odor problems.

Febreze is celebrating Adopt-a-Dog Month with a call to dog owners to “Say Up to Your Pup”

The purpose of this movement is a call to dog owners to allow their pups up onto their furniture. And by partnering with both Karamo Brown and North Shore Animal League America, the company is hoping to spread the news about the effectiveness of these fabric refreshers.

According to a press email from Febreze, “Smells from dogs get trapped in the fibers of the fabrics, causing pawrents to say “off” the couch, bed, and furniture, and miss out on snuggle time—but Febreze Fabric Refresher makes it easy to eliminate those malodors, leaving behind a light, clean scent. Simply turn the nozzle on, and spray in a sweeping motion to lightly mist the fabric in question, and then let dry.”

So what did Karamo Brown have to say about this movement? We had a few questions for him, including asking him about why he wanted to be a part of this initiative, why he likes Febreze, and what he hopes people learn from this movement.

Dog O’Day: What inspired you to take part in this initiative for Adopt-a-Dog Month?

Karamo Brown: “As a dog owner who has adopted both a senior dog and also a puppy, I know how important it is to have animals in your life to support your mental health. It makes you feel so much better about your well-being. But a lot of people are nervous about having pets because of pet odors and so that’s why the synergy with Febreze was so perfect… to encourage people to get a pet but also know that your home won’t change… it will still be fresh.”

DOD: How has using Febreze Fabric Refresher changed the way you interact with your pup in your home?

KB: “Oh my gosh the minute that I discovered Febreze Fabric Refresher, it was a game changer for me. Prior to Febreze Fabric Refresher, I would not allow my pups on my furniture because I just didn’t want to lay on my couch and smell anything that was going to not be fresh. So once I started buying Febreze Fabric Refresher… my furniture smelled great and I could cuddle and say up to my pup without a second thought.”

DOD: What’s your favorite Febreze product to use to avoid those less than fun canine scents?

KB: “Febreze Fabric Refresher Gain® Original Scent is my jam right now. My couch, my pets’ dog beds and my rugs all smell like they just came out the washing machine.”

DOD: We don’t see a lot of Logan on Instagram, so are you excited to share your pup with the world as part of this call-to-action?

KB: “Being a bit older… I turn 40 in November. I often forget to pull out my phone when playing with Logan… plus he’s a senior dog so he’s more of a cuddle buddy than a play fetch outside kind of dog. I’m so excited for people to see that dogs of any age are great companions and that people shouldn’t be afraid to give senior dogs a chance.”

DOD: What’s one thing you hope people take away from the Say Up to Your Up initiative?

KB: “The thing I hope people take away from the campaign is that it’s so important to have connection with your animal. Especially during these mentally and emotionally exhausting times… to have a pet that you can cuddle with will dramatically help your self-esteem and mood. And now you cuddle and not worry about your furniture smelling ‘off’ thanks to Febreze.”

As someone who uses Febreze every day, I love this movement and the message they are trying to get across to people. Not only does this product help make it easier than ever to enjoy cuddles with your pup without having to worry about unpleasant odors, but by bringing the Say Up to Your Pup initiative to people during Adopt-a-Dog Month it reminds us that we have options when it comes to bringing home a new dog.

And as an added bonus, Febreze wants you to share pictures of your pup joining you “up” on the furniture on social media using #SayUpWithFebreze. For every Instagram post using the hashtag, they will donate $25, up to $25,000, to the North Shore Animal League America.

Basically, this is all a win-win situation. We get to cuddle with our pups without worrying about unpleasant smells and Febreze helps raise awareness of adoption and the mission of the North Shore Animal League America.
