Dog love is more than just actions

Dog love is more than just showing our pups we care, it’s also about giving them the words. And just like people, it seems that there are some things that need to be said, as much as they need to be shown. In a new study, we get proof of just how much our dogs love hearing those three little words.

According to People Magazine, when it comes to using the words “I love you,” it seems that our dogs really do respond to hearing this phrase. A new study put on by the Canine Cottages wanted to see how a dog would react to the things their owners do and say. The purpose of the study was to determine what would get them excited.

And it seems that just like when someone we love says I love you to us, our dog’s love when we say it to them. This means that dog love is just as important to them as it is to us!

Our dog love is more than just treats and toys, it’s using words too

So what exactly did we learn from this dog love study? After tracking heart rates of four pups fitted with special collars, we learned that our dogs react to specific things such as the words we use with them and even cuddling.

Apparently when we actually say the words I love you to our dogs, it increases their heart rate by up to 46 percent. And when we cuddle with our pups, it actually calms them down and helps settle their heart rate.

Honestly, this might be the best proof ever that dog love is just as real as human love. Our dogs want to signs of affection just like we do. And if we can show our pups that we care with words and actions, then we are proving that we really do love our dogs (and they know it too!).

Are you surprised at all that our dogs react to our use of the words I love you? Does this change anything for you when it comes to talking with your pup? Tell us what you think of this in the comments.
