Simon Cowell’s kindness towards pups earns him Dog o’ Day’s Celebrity Dog Pal of the week title.

Earlier this week, One Green Planet ran a story about Simon Cowell that melted our hearts! Basically, Cowell is a hero to all dogs. Who would’ve thought such a tough judge is such a softie and lover of dogs? It goes to show how we shouldn’t judge a book by its cover, doesn’t it?

According to the source, Simon Cowell made a huge donation to the Humane Society International (or the HSI), and it’s thanks to the celebrity that 200 dogs were saved. No, not saved from not having a home, this is better than that.

The donation Cowell made to the animal rights group was to rescue the dogs from one of South Korea’s dog meat trades. It’s terrible these are a thing in some countries, but we are so grateful celebrities who are able to help, such as Simon Cowell, were able to help rescue 200 dogs from a horrible fate.

Simon Cowell meets one of the dogs he helped save

To make the story even sweeter, Cowell met one of the many dogs he helped rescue. During an interview with Good Morning Britain’s Philippa Tomson, she reveals that she adopted one of the dogs. And guess what? The dog was there ready to meet Cowell!

More from Celebs

Thanks to the HSI, 16 dog meat farms have been shut down and over 2,000 dogs have been saved! HSI’s Wendy Higgins commented on Cowell’s support, sharing, “Simon’s generous donation helps us save Robin an all the dogs languishing on the meat farm. We found them in the most appalling conditions, stuck in the barren, rusty wire cages…”

Cowell also shared how much he loves dogs, commenting “…dogs will give up their lives for you. They really would…and they’ll look after your kids, they put their lives in front of your kids. I’ve seen it with my dogs, and my dogs are tiny.”

We agree with Simon Cowell! Dogs are simply the best! Want to help end the dog meat era? Here is a petition you can sign that asks Boknal, the South Korean Dog Meat Festival to shut down. That’s right, there’s a dog meat festival, absolutely awful.

You can also donate money or time to the Humane Society International. And don’t forget to show Simon Cowell some love for being our Celebrity Dog Pal of the week!
