Snapchat’s latest feature lets you identify a dog’s breed

Have you ever gone for a walk and come across a dog that you want to learn more about? Maybe the dog was super cute and you want one for yourself. Or maybe the pup is so fascinating that you simply want to learn more about this god boy. Snapchat wants to help.

While we may think of Snapchat as being more about filters, pictures, and sharing videos with our followers and friends, the app has slowly been expanding its offerings in an effort to remain competitive. And their latest attempt to augment the app with useful features is one that dog lovers can truly appreciate.

According to Business Insider, during a partner summit last week, the company unveiled their latest feature, which allows users to utilize their in-app camera to learn more about their surroundings. This includes helping you identify everything from nutritional information and plant species, to our personal favorite thing, learning a dog’s breed.

This means that not only do we have our ever present dog filter to enjoy, but now when we come across a dog we want to learn more about, we can use the camera in the app to determine the dog’s breed without ever having to ask the owner.

While I am a big fan of putting filters on pups and taking wacky pictures of them, I think this particular feature might be much more useful. And while I understand that it can do more than determine dog breeds, I’m pretty sure that is the only way I will be using this new feature.

In fact, I can’t wait to start testing it out. I need to know what all the different dogs are that I see in my neighborhood. And honestly, this really does seem like a great tool for simply learning more about dogs in general.
