HBO Max will be the streaming home of Scoob!

HBO Max will be the American streaming home of Scoob!, the news broke Thursday, June 18. As big fans of dog movies in general, this is exciting news for the Dog O’Day staff.

Scoob! will be available on the new streaming platform beginning Saturday, June 26, after releasing straight to video through various sites on May 17 due to the coronavirus pandemic.

For international fans waiting to see the movie, it is currently unknown where or when it will become available.

“HBO Max is the perfect home for these ‘meddling kids’ and their dog,” Kevin Reilly, chief content officer of HBO Max, said in a press release. “SCOOB! tells the backstory of how these beloved friends met and formed Mystery Inc. It’s a perfect addition to our kids and family offering and will sit alongside beloved original Scooby-Doo episodes.”

Starring legendary voice actor Frank Welker as the voice of Scooby-Doo himself, his human pals are played by Zac Efron (Fred), Will Forte (Shaggy), Gina Rodriguez (Velma) and Amanda Seyfried (Daphne), with Mark Wahlberg as the superhero Blue Falcon.

Warner Bros is hoping this film will kickstart a Hanna-Barbera Cinematic Universe, which longtime fans have mixed feelings about, just like their thoughts on the movie.

Director Tony Cervone was the animation director on the 1996 cult classic Space Jam, which stars Michael Jordan and Bugs Bunny teaming up to defeat a horde of invading aliens bent on enslaving the Looney Tunes for all eternity.

Country music stars Thomas Rhett and Kane Brown teamed up with pop singer Ava Max for the song “On Me,” which appears in the Scoob! soundtrack, and the film (and franchise as a whole) has already received a parody treatment from the sketch comedy show Studio C.
