Once upon a time there was a movie called Mirror Mirror starring the likes of Julia Roberts and Armie Hammer. And in that movie, we got an epic scene inspired by a dog.
Is there anything better than an actor we love giving their all to a role? Maybe seeing that actor channeling their inner dog. And luckily for us, that actually happened in the movie Mirror Mirror with Armie Hammer in the role of Prince Andrew.
While one might think that the role of a prince would be a more regal and refined role, Mirror Mirror decided to change things up a bit. This campy and comedic take on the Snow White story was probably one of the more fun takes on the fairy tale, and that was certainly helped by the cast which of course included Julia Roberts, Lily Collins, Nathan Lane, and Hammer, to name a few.
And while I could probably wax poetic about this film and its cast, we are here to talk about the thing that Netflix reminded us of in a Tweet posted on April 26.
In the tweet, the streaming service reminded us all that at one point in the movie, Armie Hammer drinks a potion that makes him act like a dog. And when we say he committed to the part, we really mean it.
If you don’t remember the scene, and aren’t interested in watching the movie just for that moment, check it out below:
Perhaps what makes this so much fun is that Armie Hammer truly does remind us of a beloved puppy. From the exuberance to the random leg kicks, it is clear that the actor really does know a lot about dogs. After all, only someone who loves dogs would be able to impersonate one so well.

Even as the actor was still able to speak as a human, the things he asked for were things that a pup would want, from going for walks to throwing sticks to be retrieved. And with the panting and the whining dog noises, there was simply never a doubt that in this moment, Prince Andrew was more dog than man.
Thanks to Armie Hammer, we got a moment that was both pure and funny. Of course, we have to thank Netflix for this reminder about the actor’s ability to channel a dog. After all, Mirror Mirror was released in 2012, and it has been a while since many of us have seen this film.
But now that we have been reminded of this movie, maybe this is the perfect time to sit down and watch it all over again, especially if it means seeing Hammer getting into his role as a love struck pup.
