2020 Beverly Hills Dog show postponed due to post-production issues from coronavirus.
The telecast of the 2020 Beverly Hills Dog Show presented by Purina is the latest postponement in the world of dog sports due to the coronavirus pandemic.
It was originally scheduled to air on NBC on Sunday, April 5 at 12:30 p.m. ET, but they will re-air the 2019 version in its place.
As announcer David Frei explained on Tuesday in a livestreamed interview on Facebook with Fidose of Reality blogger Carol Bryant, the delay comes from an inability to record the voiceover narration to pair with the footage that was shot during the event on February 29-March 1.
This will possibly affect the replays on the NBC Sports Network as well.
Frei and Bryant also chatted about how the assembled celebrity guests, which this year include Doug the Pug, actors Brian Baumgartner of The Office and Lauren Ash of Superstore, and Olympian gold medalists Nastia Liukin (gymnastics) and Greg Louganis (diving). They enjoy being on the sidelines, absorbing information about the unfamiliar breeds along with the rest of the viewers.
The 2020 Beverly Hills Dog Show presented by Purina will still air at some point, though when that will be remains unknown at the moment.
Two new breeds took part for the first time in the fourth year of the BDHS, the Sporting Group water dog Barbet, from France, and the Working Group’s Dogo Angentino, who was bred to hunting mountain lions and wild boar.

Having the 2020 Beverly Hills Dog Show postponed is disappointing for sports fans hoping for any kind of competition adding a temporary sense of normalcy to the world, but we hope everyone enjoys the replay of last year’s event.
