The Dunedin Blue Jays will have their four-legged baseball fans wagging their tails for joy with their new season ticket package.
The Dunedin Blue Jays have done something new for 2020 that might be a first in the traditionally dog-friendly Minor League Baseball atmosphere.
They’re offering a season ticket package for baseball dogs for all 10 Wednesday afternoon home games at TD Ballpark, plus the two Bark in the Park Nights, and every season ticket pup will receive a free pup cup of ice cream at the concession stand and a Blue Jays dog tag. This package costs $25, though presumably humans will need to buy their own tickets.
They can do that at the Dunedin Blue Jays website, or by calling 727-733-0429. Dog O’Day learned of this through the Florida-based canine lifestyle magazine The New Barker.
The Triple-A level Las Vegas Aviators of the Pacific Coast League had regular Wag Your Tail Wednesdays during the 2019 season, which our friend Sir Winston Da Doodle and his little brother Sir Oliver Da Doodle took advantage of.
The Dunedin Blue Jays play in the Class A Advanced-level Florida State League, and are an affiliate of the American League’s Toronto Blue Jays. They finished first in the North Division in 2019 with an overall record of 80-55, winning both the first and second halves of the season. The playoffs were canceled due to Hurricane Dorian.
The Bark in the Park Nights will be Saturday, April 25, against the Cincinnati Reds affiliate Daytona Tortugas, and Saturday, May 23, against the Minnesota Twins affiliate Fort Myers Mighty Mussels. The April game will benefit Dunedin Doggie Rescue, while the May matchup will benefit the Suncoast Animal League.
We bet it’s likely that our friend Holland the Pup will be taking advantage of this deal, as she loves baseball and her dad Traveling Food Dude Adam Vosding is working for the Toronto Blue Jays during spring training.
The season opens at the Philadelphia Phillies affiliate Clearwater Threshers on Thursday, April 9 at 7 p.m. ET, while the home opener at TD Ballpark on Saturday, April 11 will also be against Clearwater. One of the players’ dogs attended the Phillies’ Spring Training last season.
