FDA launches dog food recall after salmonella threat
By Sandy C.
A dog food recall is always so scary, especially when the food is for our pets as we usually don’t always double-check certain items. Here’s what you need to be looking out for after a salmonella threat.
According to CBS Minnesota, there is a dog food recall from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). This recall launched Feb. 14, so it is still fairly new! Be sure you check and tell all other dog owner you know.
The food recall is for Aunt Jeni’s Home Made All-Natural Raw Turkey Dinner Dog Food. As delicious as that sounds (well, for our doggies, anyway), stay away from the brand until you hear otherwise. This is particularly affecting the Washington area as the problem is coming from a Washington, D.C. store that was found to carry traces of the bacteria.
If you have this dog food brand in your home, be sure you throw it out and thoroughly clean and disinfect any surfaces it touched. Just to be on the safe side, though, we do recommend you throw out any bowls or plates used (if you can get a Hownd bowl as a replacement, they work really well). It’s best to have your pup checked out by your local vet if you suspect there may be something wrong with them.
You can never be too careful when it comes to what your pets are munching when it comes to dog food! Unfortunately, animals aren’t able to tell us when something is wrong, and we may pick up on anything until they are too ill.
Searching for a different brand of dog food in the meantime? Is your dog being picky? Taste of the Wild Natural is the top-selling dog food on Amazon, according to Breeding Business.
On the top 10 list you’ll also find The Honest Kitchen, Stella & Chewy’s Freeze-Dried Dog Food, and BLUE Life Protection Formula.
