Who was victorious at the 2020 Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show?

The 2020 Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show presented by Purina was held on Monday and Tuesday nights at Madison Square Garden in New York City and broadcast on Fox Sports 1.

With pre-show commentary by Jenny Taft, sideline commentary by Jamie Little and play-by-play provided by Chris Meyers, Gail Bisher and American Kennel Club judge Don Sturz, viewers of the 2020 WKC Dog Show were in good hands for one of the most special events on the dog sports calendar.

Herding Group

The Herding Group was claimed by a Shetland Sheepdog called Conrad (registered name GCHP CH Syringa-Akadia The Corsair). Also placing in this category were, in order, the Old English Sheepdog, the Beauceron and the German Shepherd.

Conrad was the class champion of last year’s Beverly Hills Dog Show.

Hound Group

The Hound Group was captured by a Whippet named Bourbon (officially GCHG Pinnacle Kentucky Bourbon), sister of 2018 AKC National Championship Best in show winner Whiskey and Saturday winner at the 2019 Houston World Series of Dog Shows.

Also placing were the Scottish Deerhound, the Afghan Hound and the Saluki. It was a good night to be a sighthound.

Non-Sporting Group

The Non-Sporting Group was won by Siba the Standard Poodle (registered as GCHP CH Stone Run Afternoon Tea), who also won the category in Orlando at the AKC Nationals in December.

Also placing (in order) were the Lhasa Apso, the Bulldog and the Chow Chow.

Sporting Group

The blue ribbon in the Sporting Group went to a Golden Retriever named Daniel (registered name GCHP CH Hillock’s Jack Daniels RA JH CA RATN CGC), who won the group at the 2019 National Dog Show. The red ribbon went to the German Wirehaired Pointer, the white to the Cocker Spaniel and the yellow to the Vizsla.

Daniel is the cousin-by-adoption of Mickie, the litter sister of our friend Rookie the Batdog.

Terrier Group

The Terrier Group was won by a Wire Fox Terrier called Vinny (officially GCHB CH Irvonhill Voignier), and also placing were the Welsh Terrier, the American Staffordshire Terrier and the Kerry Blue Terrier.

Toy Group

Repeating as Toy Group winner at the 2020 Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show was Bono the Havanese, whose registered name is GCHG CH Oeste’s In the Name of Love, 2019 class champ at Beverly Hills and the NDS, among many, many others.

Winning the red ribbon was the Pekingese, the white went to the Toy Poodle and the yellow to the Affenpinscher.

Working Group

Repeating as WKC Dog Show Working Group champ was Wilma the Boxer (registered name GCHP CH Cinnibon’s Bedrock Bombshell).

Also placing here were, in order, the Siberian Husky, the Mastiff and the Samoyed.

Best in Show

When it came to Best in Show at the 2020 Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show, the title of Reserve Best in Show (overall runner-up) went to Bourbon, while Best in Show was given to Siba.
