The Cleveland Browns’ live mascot, a mixed breed named Swagger, has retired.

The Cleveland Browns are known for their big personalities and swagger off the field, mostly in the form of brash quarterback Baker Mayfield and flamboyant receiver Odell Beckham Jr, who have appeared in commercials for, among other things, Hulu, Progressive Insurance and Pedialyte.

One of the ways the team sets itself apart from the rest of the NFL is through their loyal fanbase, which is known collectively as “the Dawg Pound,” which is also a nickname for their home of FirstEnergy Stadium.

Tying in with the Dawg Pound theme, the Browns have a Labrador sideline mascot named Chomps, and a Bullmastiff live mascot named Swagger.

But after five years and around 40 regular season games, Swagger has retired following Sunday’s 32-28 home loss to the Seattle Seahawks, who improved to 4-2 on the season.

According to a tweet from Fox Sports, Swagger will be replaced by his son SJ (which presumably stands for Swagger Jr), who will start his duties beginning in November 2019.

During the majority of his tenure with the team since 2014, the Browns have been near the cellar of the AFC North.

In fact, the Browns have posted a record of 20 wins, 65 losses and one tie, and the 2019 edition of the team is 2-4, with back to back losses. During that span Cleveland has a home record of 11 wins, 31 losses and a tie.

While their team has been near the bottom of the NFL standings year in and year out, Browns fans can enjoy chowing down on a variety of delicious burgers, and those who are dog lovers can enjoy the team’s partnership with the Northeast Ohio SPCA, which we covered during the preseason.
