The second season of Titans has officially begun on DC Universe, and while we are excited for the super show’s return, there was a sad lack of Krypto in the opener.

Season 2 of Titans has arrived, and while we have spent the summer eagerly anticipating the series’ return, there was at least one character we wanted to see that was sadly lacking in the premiere. Since the end credit scene that gave us a glimpse of both Superboy and Krypto the Superdog, we here at Dog O’Day have been eager for the show to return to see how these two heroes become a part of the team. And yet it seems we will have to continue waiting to find this out.

In the first episode of the new season, not only do we not see anything about Superboy or Krypto, but it almost feels like their escape from wherever they were being held never happened. Of course, it makes sense that Titans would need to tie up all the loose ends of Season 1, but the sad lack of Krypto was definitely noticed (at least by us).

We get that it probably wouldn’t have made any sense to incorporate either character into the episode, as it really felt more like a season finale for Season 1 than a season premiere for the second season. However, that doesn’t mean we weren’t a little disappointed. In fact, we would almost say we were pupset.

Although we might be a little sad over the lack of Superboy and Krypto, it does leave us anticipating the next episode of Titans, as we are holding out hope that they finally make an appearance in episode two.  After all, we can’t just have those two wandering around clueless (Superboy clearly doesn’t remember who he is and Krypto doesn’t seem much better off).

We will have to keep our fingers crossed that Titans decides to give us what we want and at least show us a glimpse of Krypto and Superboy in episode two. Although, if they had a more prominent role that would certainly be better.

On a side note, we have to point out that Gar has finally shifted into something other than a Tiger, which means there is a chance we could see him turn into a canine of some sort in the future. After seeing him transform into an otherworldly green-tinged snake, we can’t help but think he would be an awesome pup. And, it would totally be cool if by shifting into a dog he could better communicate with Krypto when he finally appears.
