International Cat Day was yesterday, and the dogs of Twitter and Instagram made sure to celebrate as well.

International Cat Day was yesterday, Thursday, August 8, and like any good holiday, the dogs of Twitter and Instagram made sure to celebrate, even if they don’t always agree with or like feline philosophies of their fur siblings.

Cats rule the internet, as our staff cat Rags can attest, but it was good of doggos to share their corner for a bit in mutual harmony. Humans could learn a lot from our pets if we’d just listen more often.

Rags is a 6-year-old opinionated tortoiseshell, and she helps Wesley write and edit every day about a variety of topics. She’s almost doglike in her single-minded affection.

In addition to watching Cat TV in the windowsill, she enjoys superhero TV shows and thoughtful movies, while strongly disliking other cats. She also loathes Cary Grant, which Wesley doesn’t quite understand.

Lena Pup Dachshund (@LenaPup15 on Twitter) made sure to wish her older sister Jadee Cat a happy International Cat Day, and many of her friends joined in on the well wishes.

After getting permission first, Lena made sure to play with one of Jadee Cat’s toys to help celebrate.

Artemis O’Rourke, the Lab who is the most vocal of presidential candidate Beto O’Rourke pets, made sure to celebrate her sister Silver.

Vegas Golden Knights superfan Logan, The Girl With the Hat, is the biped of Bark-Andre Furry‘s girlfriend Goldie the Yorkie, and she made sure to take a minute to give the spotlight to Goldie’s sister Rinky.

Nashville Predators team dog Smash had a little too much fun with his stuffy of team mascot Gnash, who is a sabertooth tiger. He kind of yanked all the fur off the head. Oops.

It wasn’t quite the same without Grumpy Cat here – the internet has been a little grouchier place since Tartar Sauce crossed the Rainbow Bridge several months ago.

While International Cat Day was surely approved by by all felines everywhere, National Dog Day will soon be here to give pups their day, as they ought to have. National Dog Day will be Monday, August 26 this year.
