Joy Prom 2019 was a howling success.

A few weeks ago Vegas Golden Knights superfan Bark-Andre Furry, hockey Twitter’s favorite Jack Russell Terrier, asked his girlfriend Goldie the Yorkie to the Joy Prom 2019 in an adorable promposal that made the internet explode with warm fuzzy happiness.

The Joy Prom 2019 was held Saturday, May 25, at the M Resort in Las Vegas, and it seems safe to say it was a howling success.

The Joy Prom is an event for those with special needs, which may be physical or mental disabilities. This is a cause close to Dog O’Day staff, as most of Wesley’s siblings have special needs of one kind or another.

Bark’s buddy Ovie the Bulldog, a Washington Capitals fan, was visiting from San Diego, and he brought his little sister Saffy Bean as his date.

Bark decided for a “casual dressy” approach, going with his comfortable Knights jersey and a bow tie, while Goldie chose a fancy red dress. Saffy wore a maroon dress, while Ovie wore his favorite Caps jersey.

Other guests included Goldie’s bipeds Logan and Rylie, Pirates of the Caribbean’s Captain Jack Sparrow, Chewbacca, Disney princesses Belle (Beauty and the Beast), Rapunzel (Tangled) and Anna and Elsa (Frozen), and members of the VGK Golden Aces cheerleading squad.

There was a lot of dancing, and the dogs got a ton of love and attention, as all good dogs should.

Things went well until some Sharks and Penguins fans (the arch-rivals of the Knights and Caps, respectively) thought they would live up to their villainous DC Comics counterparts and harass Goldie and Saffy. Bark and Ovie wouldn’t stand for that, and so earned penalties for ruffing and prom misconduct.

After that, it seemed like a good idea to leave, so they dispersed with great rapidity for the afterparty.

“What. A. Night,” Bark said afterwards. “My date Goldie and I had a fantastic time!”

“It really was a lot of fun,” Goldie added.

Bark met up with his friends Sir Winston Da Doodle, Winston’s little brother Oliver, and Finn the Batdog (from the Triple-A Las Vegas Aviators) later that night for some minor league soccer action as the Las Vegas Lights tied the Tulsa Roughnecks in a scoreless battle on Paws on the Pitch Night.

The whole pack is on Instagram at @barkandrefurry, @goldie_vgk_yorkie, @oviethebulldog, @saffybeanbulldog, @winstondadoodle, and @finnthebatdog. All of them are on Twitter as well, some with slightly different handles.
