On June 13, the Washington Nationals hosted their Pups in the Park Night and one big dog seems to have stolen the show (or the game).
Throughout Major League Baseball, there are a number of ball parks that host special events, such as Pride or Pups in the Park Night. And while each of these nights is amazing in different ways, we have to give credit to the Washington Nationals for their recent dog friendly night at the ball park.
Although June 13 was a rainy night of baseball for the Nationals and their opponents the Arizona Diamondbacks, that did not stop faithful fans from heading to the park to enjoy the game. And since it was Pups in the Park night, that meant many of those fans were bringing along their trusty canine companions as well.
While there were likely a number of dogs who joined their baseball loving owners for this night of fun, as MLB.com reports, there was one large pup who seemed to be a real scene stealer. This good boy was apparently large enough to garner the nickname “Clifford” by the Nationals announcement booth.
But, it was not really his size that made him a showstopper, it was the fact that this large pup decided that he was a lap dog. And apparently this pup’s owner is so used to this happening that the dog watched the game from his owner’s lap for quite some time.
As dog lovers, we totally understand the owner here. After all, once your pup thinks they are a lap dog, it doesn’t matter how big they get, they will always want to be in your lap.
Of course, this is not the first time a major league ball park has had a large lap dog in its midst. But in this case, it seems that it was this pup’s turn to shine.
Honestly, we agree with Cut4, the “spicy” MLB Twitter account, which said that “every dog is a lap dog.” In fact, just look at some of the other pups in the background of the video in the Cut4 post, and you’ll see at least two other dogs taking advantage of their owner’s laps to watch the game.
All of these pups are the best boys and girls and we love the fact that they got the chance to watch a ball game with their owners. We are so happy that a number of the Major League parks host a doggy in the park night to let fans bring their pups with them, especially when it gives us this level of cuteness.
