For the first time in his career, Harrison Ford is voicing an animated character. As Rooster in Secret Life of Pets 2, the actor gets a chance to have some fun.
Over the years, Harrison Ford has proven that he has a wide range when it comes to his acting chops. While he has done plenty of serious roles, as well as a few comedic moments, the one thing he had never done before was voice an animated character. But thanks to The Secret Life of Pets 2, all of that is changing.
According to People Magazine, Ford saw the original movie back in 2016 when it premiered in theaters and “thought it was great,” much like many of us did. The actor went on to say that what he liked about the first Secret Life of Pets was the “style of animation, the humor, the characters and the point of view.”
After seeing the original animated movie, he was actually excited to have them ask him to be in the sequel. He explained that he had never been asked to voice an animated character before, so this was something he was “delighted” to do.
In Secret Life of Pets 2, Harrison Ford voices a new character by the name of Rooster. Rooster is a farm dog that Max and Duke are introduced to after Max almost drinks from the other dog’s water bowl (uhoh). Apparently the scene sees Ford’s character tell Max that a, “Dog’s got two things in this life: his water bowl and his dignity.”
While Rooster is clearly a dominate dog, we are excited to see how his relationship with Max and Duke evolves. That being said, it is also nice to have Harrison Ford stepping in to voice the part, as it certainly seems fitting to have that gruff, serious voice for the farm dog.
And if you are wondering about whether or not the actor is a dog lover – the answer is yes. It turns out that Ford has three dogs.
The actor owns a brother and a sister named January and Juno, who are rescues, as well as an older pug named Mugs who thinks he is a fierce ankle-biter when other people walk by him. Luckily for anyone who invades his personal space, Mugs is 14 and doesn’t have all of his teeth in order to really show those people who is boss (we know it’s him).
If you are a fan of Secret Life of Pets or Harrison Ford, the sequel hits theaters on June 7. And we will all get the chance to meet Rooster, as well as some of the other new pets with their own secret lives.
