On Instagram, Sarah Michelle Gellar shared a touching tribute to her Bernese Mountain Dog who tragically passed away after six years with the actress and her family.

Sad news for Sarah Michelle Gellar, as the Buffy actress has shared that her Bernese Mountain Dog, Bella, has passed away. In a post shared to social media, she paid touching tribute to her pup, calling the dog a “gift.”

On Instagram, Gellar shared a series of pictures featuring her pup, with a lovely picture of herself along with Bella, who looked to be sniffing the side of her head (or contemplating a good long lick) as the featured image. Among the other pictures that the actress posted was one that had her and Bella with Freddie Prinze Jr. (the actress’ husband), and one with the couple’s baby reaching out to pet the pup.

In the caption that accompanied the pictures, the actress pointed out that while any time on this Earth is truly a gift, “sometimes those gifts leave us too soon.” And we completely agree with this sentiment as dog lovers and owners ourselves.

In describing Bella, Sarah Michelle Gellar called the pup a loving friend and dog, while also saying that she was sweet and kind. And much like any dog parent who loses a pup, she said that “while I don’t think six years with you was nearly enough, I’m grateful to have had you in my life.”

Although Gellar has not shared a lot of pictures of Bella on Instagram over the years, the pup has not been completely absent. And in light of her passing, it makes sense that the actress would decide to share some special pictures as a tribute to the Bernese Mountain Dog who she loved and who obviously loved her back.
