The final season of Game of Thrones is in full swing and with it comes some decisions that we are all shaking our heads at, especially in regards to Jon Snow.
After the Battle of Winterfell, viewers of Game of Thrones had one big question – what happened to Ghost? Thanks to a preview for the fourth episode, fans were rewarded with a glimpse of the direwolf in the mix with other survivors. For many of us, this was a relief and gave us hope for the future.
Unfortunately for us, this hope came too soon. In the latest episode of Game of Thrones, we see a battle worn Ghost with an ear missing and cuts to his body. He looks weary, but still ready to stand at Jon Snow’s side. And then Jon did something even the people of Twitter are upset over.
At one point in the episode, we see Jon Snow getting ready to leave for King’s Landing and the battle against Cersei Lannister. And while this is all well and good, and to be expected, it is what he does with Ghost that has many of us upset.
Instead of bringing Ghost with him, Jon not only leaves him behind, but he actually gives his companion over to Tormund. In the moment, Jon Snow tells his friend to take the direwolf with him back to the north. (Cue all of our shock and outrage.) As far as being a dog father, we have some issues with this moment. Perhaps the biggest problem is that he doesn’t even say goodbye. He looks at Ghost for a long moment after he tells Tormund to take the direwolf and then that’s it.
And we were clearly not alone in our shock and upset. As Newsweek pointed out, there were a number of posts on social media from Game of Thrones viewers sharing their own feelings on Jon Snow abandoning Ghost, including some speculating as to how the direwolf may have felt.
We totally agree with this! Where was the goodbye?!
This helpful Twitter user put up an adoption request for Ghost. As a reminder, Ghost is a very good boy who has remained loyal for a long time now.
And perhaps this sums it up the best. At least for all of us.
Even one little pet would have been better than this.
Honestly, we are with the people of social media. This was not okay. How could Jon Snow just walk away without even a last goodbye for the one companion who has been by his side even in death?
