Puppies predict the Final Four winners on The Tonight Show
Jimmy Fallon had puppies predict the winners of the Final Four on The Tonight Show.
IMPORTANT PUPDATE – The puppies were right! They not only picked the Final Four winners, but the Virginia Cavaliers also won the title by a nose over the Texas Tech Red Raiders in a title game that went to overtime.
Puppies are adorable. They’re part of why we love dogs so much. But how well can they predict the winners of Final Four basketball games? That’s what JImmy Fallon tested last night on The Tonight Show.
A group of sixteen Lab puppies were split up into four teams of four, each representing one of the schools left in the NCAA Tournament’s Final Four: the Auburn Tigers, Michigan State Spartans, Texas Tech Red Raiders and Virginia Cavaliers.
Each team sent its members down a maze very cleverly designed like a bracket, with the first team reaching the food bowl finish line declared the winner.
It was a dead heat, but Team Virginia and Team Texas Tech made it to the food bowl first, and in a photo finish, Virginia won the national championship by a nose.
Each team had their share of fans on Instagram pulling for their favorites, of course.
Louie was cheering on Auburn.
Boomer made sure to wear his lucky jersey to watch the Cavaliers play.
Rocket and Booster the Boston Terriers were all set to cheer on their Red Raiders.
Whichever team a pet rooted for, the day was best spent with your human.
This Michigan State Poodle crashed on the couch with their person to watch the game. That seems like a very good plan.
In actual gameplay, Virginia squeaked past Auburn, rallying from a two-point deficit on three free throws with a half second to play to win 63-62.
Boone handled the Tigers’ loss pretty well, comforting herself with the knowledge that her snoot is very cute.
In the other semifinal, Texas Tech and Michigan State were in the middle of their matchup at the writing of this article.
The National Championship Game will be Monday night on April 8, likely on CBS.
